How to Run Windows Update in Windows 7

UPGRADING FROM A WINDOWS XP FACTORY DOWNGRADE USING CUSTOM INSTALL:

1. Turn on the PC.
   
2. Insert the Windows 7 DVD into your DVD drive and restart the PC.
3. Boot to the Windows 7 DVD.
   
4. Click Install Now.
   
5. Follow the instructions on screen, choosing the following options:
   a. Select Go online to get the latest updates…
   b. Select Custom.
   c. Select other options as appropriate.
   
6. Do not reboot or shut down your computer until the upgrade process has completed.
   
7. After the installation has completed, you will see several option screens.
   a. At the Help protect Windows automatically screen, choose Use recommended settings.
   b. Select other options as appropriate.
   
8. Run the Windows Easy Transfer wizard to restore your backed up files.
   
9. Update Drivers using the disk or CD you created when you located Windows 7 drivers for your system.
